This one is a <em>european garden spider<\/em> or <em>diadem spider<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Araneus_diadematus\">Araneus diadematus<\/a>) which my daughter found in our garden:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/doenges.com\/g\/v\/Nature\/diadem-spider.jpg.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/doenges.com\/photos\/albums\/Nature\/diadem-spider.jpg\" alt=\"Diadem Spider in its web.\" width=\"600\" \/> <\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Back lit diadem spider in its web.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In this image, I like the way the sunlight shines through the lighter parts of the spiders body, making it appear that the spider glows from within.<\/p>\n<p>As I was watching the spider and photographing it I saw it catch three small flies in its web.
