{"id":1238,"date":"2012-11-09T18:27:58","date_gmt":"2012-11-09T16:27:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doenges.com\/blog\/?p=1238"},"modified":"2012-11-24T18:45:52","modified_gmt":"2012-11-24T16:45:52","slug":"saxophone-on-the-pont-des-arts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doenges.com\/blog\/2012\/11\/09\/saxophone-on-the-pont-des-arts","title":{"rendered":"Saxophone on the Pont des Arts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the Streets of Paris workshop in September, an assignment was to shoot on the <a title=\"Pont des Arts, Paris\" href=\"http:\/\/www.openstreetmap.org\/?lat=48.85846&amp;lon=2.33755&amp;zoom=17&amp;layers=M\" target=\"_blank\">Pont des Arts<\/a>. There were a number of musicians playing on the bridge, but the lone saxophone player caught my ear.<\/p>\n<p>I stopped to listen to his music for a long time, struck by the fact that he seemed to be playing for himself, not the people around him.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/smu.gs\/QtbASC\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Saxophone on the Pont des Arts\" src=\"http:\/\/photo.doenges.com\/Portfolio\/People\/i-2RDKRGK\/1\/M\/Paris_20120906-057-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stephen plays the Saxophone on the Pont des Arts in Paris.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It finally dawned on me that I was supposed to be taking pictures, not listen to music (bad student!), so I did. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, I talked to Stephen, the musician, who turns out to be a really nice guy. He&#8217;s originally from Pittsburgh, PA and went to live and work in Paris. After a while, he could not stand his &#8220;normal&#8221; job anymore, so he is now a full-time musician. Wow, talk about living your dream!<\/p>\n<p>At the time, he was practicing, which he prefers to do outside and in public, rather than in a stuffy rehearsal room. That I can relate to!<\/p>\n<p>As the sun dropped from the sky, the sky turned into a spectacular background and I could not pass the opportunity by.
